Slide show By : Brendan Rowe Hatchet Author : Gary Paulsen Survival Items from hatchet Hatchet the book Slide show By : Brendan Rowe Hatchet Author : Gary Paulsen

1) Hatchet My first survival item is a hatchet. I chose the hatchet because I can cut down trees. A hatchet is a good weapon to use in a dangerous situation. Brian used the hatchet to make a fire by throwing it at the rocks in the shelter.

2) A First Aid Kit My second choice is a first aid kit because it has important tools. You can use a first aid kit on animals that don’t harm you. When Brian’s leg got shot with quills he could’ve used a first aid kit.

3) A fishing pole A fishing pole is my third item. The fishing pole is important since it can catch fish and I can eat the fish with my hands. A fishing pole would be easier than a bow. When the fishing spear didn’t work Brian could’ve used a fishing pole.

4)Bottles of water My fourth choice is bottles of water. The bottles of water will keep me from being thirsty. Also, bottles of water would refresh me if I can’t find water. Brian can use the bottles of water to wet himself if he is sweating.

5)parachute My fifth item I would bring with me is a parachute .I can use it if my plane is going to crash. .Brian could’ve used a parachute than trying to land a plane in the Canadian wilderness.

6)A box of matches My sixth choice is a box of matches. I can use a box of matches to scare away animals. Also, I can use a box of matches to make a fire easier. Brian could’ve used a box of matches rather than using his hatchet.

7) A small blanket My seventh most important thing in my survival kit is a small blanket. You can use it for comforting. Brian could’ve used a blanket to keep him warm. Also, better to have something warm than nothing warm.

8) A flashlight My last thing that is important to me in this survival kit is a flashlight. I could use a flashlight to see in the dark. Brian could use a flashlight to see in the dark when the porcupine came.
