3 Hatchet is about a thirteen ear old boy who learn to take care of himself in the wilderness after a plane crash. My focus is on the geography of the setting, the Canadian Wilderness, and the appearance of so many animals in the story. The collage tell the story of the flight and crash of Brian Roberson who was on his way to the oil fields of Canada to spend time with his father when the pilot of the plane had a heart attack and died leaving Brian all alone. The wilderness is an isolated area full of trees and animals that are wild and not use to humans. It is far away from help for Brian after he crashes. The lake is where the plane lands and remains hidden until a tornado causes changes in the lake. Then Brian recovers the survival gear and there is resolution to his wilderness conflict after more than forty days. The mosquitoes, skunk and porcupine remains the boy of how dangerous life is when you can’t take care of your self. The fish reminds him of what he knows from school about light. The mother bear and cub, was like his mother taken care of him when she gave him a hatchet that he learned to use. The moose symbolizes how strong he can become. The rabbit provided him with food, the grouse, and the wolves showed how all could live in the wilderness peaceful and not harm each other. To watch movie based on this book click he link below.
