Second Grade Orientation August 28, 2018

Spelling Students will be given a Spelling Pre-test on Monday. If a student misses two or less they will be given a challenge Spelling List 2 to study for the week. If they miss three or more, they will stay with List 1. Spelling test will be given on Friday.

Accelerated Reader Reagan will participate in AR campus- wide Students are encouraged to meet individual goals. 9 week goal celebrations Renaissance Home Connect (Check Student Progress) Show parents AR folder and reading log for them to write books they read

Math Math Fact automaticity Educational Videos Extensive use of manipulatives Interactive journal Develop Problem Solving Skills (CUBES Plan) Show flash cards websites to practice facts Graph fact progress

Problem Solving Coding Strategy

Grading Reading and Math will be weighted 45%-Classwork, 40%-Tests, and 15%-Homework Numerical grade given on report card in Language Arts (Spelling, Writing, Grammar), Science, Social Studies E, S, N, or U given in Health, Music, P.E., Art, and Conduct Formative and Summative Assessments

Grading Numerical grade on paper signifies recorded in gradebook; stamps, smiley faces, checkmarks, etc. indicate no grade recorded Any paper with a numerical grade below 80 is to be signed by parent and returned to school in take-home folder.
