Technology Department EDMS nb.?????? Maintenance methods and policy in FPS section Maintenance Management, Spare Parts Management. Overview of activity scope L. Feliciano

Technology Department Agenda Maintenance Policy Preventive Maintenance Corrective Maintenance Spare Parts Maintenance Policy Future Spare Parts Future Summary

Technology Department Maintenance Policy Maintenance Policy is a statement of principle used to achieve maintenance objectives and guide maintenance decision making. Maintenance is a high risk activity, and is carried out to prevent problems arising, to put faults right, and to ensure equipment is working effectively. Maintenance Data collection is very important for an effective management of the maintenance. Data collection Mainly our maintenance plans are under the responsibility of the each equipment owner. In FPS section we have two types of maintenance: Preventive and Corrective.

Technology Department Preventive maintenance The main purpose of having a Preventive Maintenance Program is to give a plan of action giving the possibility of defining long term as well as short term planning. On a weekly base a meeting is held to discuss maintenance issues, KPIs, with equipment's responsible. It is the opportunity to adjust preventive maintenance plans for future technical stops and Shutdowns. This meeting is also used to schedule small predictive maintenance activities based on measurements made showing system degradation. The reports on maintenance are either in EDMS or DFS servers under the equipments responsible folders.EDMSDFS

Technology Department Corrective maintenance Performed in emergency at each breakdown. Activity report is available on eLogbook.eLogbook Reports are not shown by functional position but by equipment. There is no possibility of tracking systematic breakdowns of a particular functional position. To perform a good corrective maintenance, a well accurate recording of each necessary spare part, tooling and documentation for each equipment is also needed.

Technology Department Spare Parts &Tooling Mgnt A good spare parts mgnt has a key role in a maintenance process.spare parts mgnt There are several locations for the storage of FPS parts and tooling related to one equipment. locations Lifecycle/history of spares parts not followed (there is no coding attached for each part), some presents dubious information.dubious Equipment responsible is supposed to be in charge of the spare parts management. There are no automatic alerts for low stock levels. Parts in storage can be different from modified part in equipment, even if they have the same drawing.

Technology Department Maintenance Policy Future To use a CERN wide centralized software that will managed all data (functions, equipment's, parts, documentation). Easy way to follow equipment's history or lifecycle. Improves maintenance activities with the possibility of having Work Orders with the associated procedure, spare parts and tools needed.

Technology Department Spare Parts Future Create spare parts warehouses, based on existing places.warehouses Create unique coding (barcode) for each part; Implement a tracking system between suppliers, warehouse, equipment and functional positions in order to follow up our spare parts movements and availability. Spare parts management done on a global ABT level Update all drawings/schematics.

Technology Department Summary Set up a global Maintenance methods and policy for ABT Set up the equipment's tree for all functional positions Labeling our spare parts with appropriate codingappropriate coding workspace.cern.ch/web/base/logindisp?tenant=GMAO-TEST Position:Asset: workspace.cern.ch/web/base/logindisp?tenant=GMAO-TEST
