China MM-Wave (CMMW) Study Group - Introduction of CMMW PAR and 5C April 2007 doc.: IEEE 802.11-07/0570r0 May 2012 China MM-Wave (CMMW) Study Group - Introduction of CMMW PAR and 5C Date: 2011-05-15 Authors: Xiaoming Peng, Eldad Perahia Eldad Perahia, Intel Corporation
Overview of China 60 GHz issues The 60GHz frequency band allocated in China is only 5 GHz bandwidth from 59-64GHz which is smaller than the typical 7-9 GHz bandwidth allocated in other countries. The current band plan considered in 802.11ad uses channels with 2.16 GHz bandwidth which gives only 2 logical channels for networking when it is operated in China. This may limit the usage of 802.11ad products in China market. USA, Canada, Korea Europe Japan China Australia Xiaoming Peng, Eldad Perahia
Overview of China 45 GHz frequency band April 2007 doc.: IEEE 802.11-07/0570r0 Overview of China 45 GHz frequency band May 2012 After communicating with China Radio Management Authority, CWPAN (SG5: Q- LINKPAN) has submitted the final request of the unlicensed band in the 43.5-47.0 GHz for approval Path Loss @ 45 GHz – about 2.5dB lower than 60GHz: TX power: < +20 dBm (Antenna port) Frequency tolerance: 100×10-6 Due to the better propagation property in the 43.5-47 GHz frequency band than the 60 GHz frequency band, it allows the operation of 802.11 product over more frequency band and opens up more application scenarios than 802.11ad for larger coverage and portable devices with lower-power.
