STAAR Performance Labels and Policy Definitions MASTERS GRADE LEVEL- Performance in this category indicates that students are expected to succeed in the next grade or course with little or no academic intervention. MEETS GRADE LEVEL- Performance in this category indicates that students have a high likelihood of success in the next grade or course but may still need some short-term, targeted academic intervention. APPROACHES GRADE LEVEL- Performance in this category indicates that students are likely to succeed in the next grade or course with targeted academic intervention. DID NOT MEET GRADE LEVEL- Performance in this category indicates that students are unlikely to succeed in the next grade or course without significant, ongoing academic intervention.

STAAR Progress Measures The STAAR progress measure gives you information about how much your child has improved in a subject area. For reading and math this measure is based on a comparison of your child’s test score last year with his or her score this year. WHICH GRADES AND SUBJECTS HAVE A STAAR PROGRESS MEASURE? STAAR progress measure will be reported for the tests listed below: • reading in grades 4–8 • mathematics in grades 4–8

Preparation Tips Be sure your child gets a good night’s sleep. Students should eat a healthy breakfast. Be sure your child arrives to school on time. In order to provide the best possible testing environment for students, the campus will be closed to visitors on STAAR testing dates.
