Hast Thou Considered Job

Satan presented himself to God – Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

Satan accused God of bribing Job – Job 1:9-10 Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

God was confident in and trustful of Job

I. Job was different Job 1:8 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

God called Job “my servant” God’s people are called to be different

2 Cor. 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you

If Satan inquires of God about you and me – how would God respond

II. Job was perfect and upright Perfect = means complete Upright = of a pure moral character

The Bible makes one complete 2 Pet. 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

2 Tim. 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Christians must live pure lives Mt. 5:13-16 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men…

Ye are the light of the world Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick…

and it giveth light unto all that are in the house and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Rom. 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God

III. Job feared God Proverbs 9:10 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding”

The fear that Job had for God was reverential respect In our society that is lacking in respect – the need to honor God must be emphasized

Ps. 89:7 God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.

IV. Job eschewed evil Eschew = to remove from; turn aside; take away We must follow the example of Job and turn away from the evil

Rom. 12:9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Abhor = to hate
