Causes of The American Revolution

Mercantilism Mercantilism-economic theory concerned with trade Colonies should exists for the benefit of the mother country Colonies should only trade with mother country Colonies should be taxed to enrich mother country For most of the colonial period, trade between the colonies and Great Britain WAS NOT based on mercantilism

Navigation Acts Series of British laws passed in 1660s Candy Points: What is TPP? Series of British laws passed in 1660s Required colonies to ONLY trade with Great Britain Required to pay heavy duties (taxes) on goods sold to Great Britain Largely ignored by colonies

But Why Would Britain ignore the colonies?
