7. The Navigation Acts
No country could trade w/ colonies unless goods were shipped in colonial or English ships
Ships had to be run by by crews that were at least ¾ English
The colonists could only export products to England
Goods traded between the colonies and Europe first had to pass through an English port

9. Salutary Neglect Salutary = beneficial neglect = to ignore
--England relaxed its enforcement of most of the Navigation Acts in return for the loyalty of the colonies.
