Door Decorating Contest! We are having another contest starting TODAY November 9. Judging will be done the morning of Friday, November 18. November’s theme: Lathrop is grateful for…. Judging will be done based on creativity, use of theme, and execution. Respect Responsibility Safety

November Most of you like the month of November because of Thanksgiving Break - A whole week off!! While it is nice to have a break, it is important to remember that November is a time when we reflect on things for which we are grateful. Respect Responsibility Safety

Gratitude Why is it important to show gratitude? A study done by UC Berkeley has shown that people who express gratitude regularly have: Psychological • Higher levels of positive emotions • More alert, alive, and awake • More joy and pleasure • More optimism and happiness Social • More helpful, generous, and compassionate • More forgiving • More outgoing • Feel less lonely and isolated Physical • Stronger immune systems • Less bothered by aches and pains • Lower blood pressure • Exercise more and take better care of their health • Sleep longer and feel more refreshed upon waking Respect Responsibility Safety

The next year, November 11th was named Armistice Day. During WWI, a temporary end of the fighting was called on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month (11:00, November 11). The next year, November 11th was named Armistice Day. After WWII and the Korean War, it was renamed Veterans day in honor of ALL American veterans of war. Respect Responsibility Safety

To honor our military we are going to participate in A Million Thanks. This organization aims to send millions of thank you letters to service members. Respect Responsibility Safety

Pick one of the following to start your letter- Write a thank you letter to a service member on a 8.5 X 11 piece of paper (lined or blank) - NO CARDS and NO ENVELOPES Pick one of the following to start your letter- Dear US Service Member, Dear Soldier, Be positive, creative, and uplifting in your letter!
