Presentation transcript:

Tuesday, March 13 Get the chrome book with the same # as your desk #. We are starting our research project today on “How Humans Impact the Ecosystem”. I will give you details when class begins.

Humans impact the ecosystem in positive and negative ways. Watch the following short video to learn some of the ways humans affect the ecosystem.

NegativeHuman Influences on Ecosystems Habitat Destruction Human development Deforestation Land Loss/Desertification Invasive Species (non-native species) Competition for Resources Over Harvesting fishing/hunting 5. Pollution/Global Warming Air and Water

Positive Human Impacts on the Ecosystem Making wildlife animal refuges to increase the population of endangered species. Planting trees to reduce the impact of deforestation. Cleaning up the pollution of rivers and oceans. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle END

Research Project: How do humans impact the ecosystem (positively or negatively)? Some ideas: Specific event: meltdown of fukushima in Japan Broad/general event: Global warming (coral reef, plants, permafrost) Deforestation Pollution (atmospheric, water, land, pesticides) Introduction of an Invasive species: Australia Extinction of species
