Presentation transcript:

Alternative Energy A Source of renewable energy, such as solar, wind, geothermal, and biofuels.

Fuels made from plant materials. Biofuels Fuels made from plant materials.

Wind Energy Energy that comes from harnessing the movement of the air.

Solar Energy Energy that comes from the sun.

Geothermal Energy Energy extracted from heat stored inside the earth.

Hydroelectric Using flowing water to create electricity.

Advantages of Alternative Energy Sometimes using Alternative Energy produces less waste or pollution than burning fossil fuels. Using Alternative Energy conserves or saves Earth’s resources.

Reflected Light Light rays that are bounced off the surface of an object

Objects that reflect light Dark shiny surfaces Calm water Mirrors Shiny metalic surfaces

Refracted Light The bending of light rays as they pass from one substance to another.

Objects that refract light Water Glass Prisms Curved mirrors Camera lens
