Harry Houdini By: Ella

Early life Houdini was born March 24th,1874. Houdini was born in Budapest, Hungry. Harry is one of 7 children in the family. His father is a rabbi. Moved to Appleton WI at a young age with his family.

Middle life Moved with his father to New York. Started street magic and card tricks at the age of 13! Married Bess Raymond in 1894! First called “The king of hand cuffs.”

Before performing Harry Houdini said” I can resist any punch and it won’t kill me. A fan asked is that was true. And Harry Houdini said that it is true and before covering him self the fan punches him in the gut Houdini said to stop and went in the back stage to preform his act. He could not finish be cause he fainted on stage! He was brought to the hospital. After a week in the hospital Harry Houdini looks at his brother and says “ I’m tired of fighting I guess this one is going to get to me.” Looks at his wife for the last time and… died on Halloween,1926. Later life Marten Beck becomes his manager and helps him become famous. Became a president of Americas oldest magic company!

Fun Facts To perfect many of his escape acts, Houdini had to practice regurgitating lock picks! During world war 1,Harry Houdini took 1 year off of performing to help sell war bonds and teach American soldiers how to escape from German handcuffs.
