Ancient Rome 1. Rome is located on the continent of Europe.

Physical Characteristics 2. Rome was built on seven hills beside the Tiber River. The hills protected the Roman people from invaders.

Children in Ancient Rome 3. Children studied Latin and Greek. They wrote on wax tablets, read from scrolls, and learned to count on an abacus.

Ancient Rome 5. Craftworkers made pottery, jewelry, and tools.

Ancient Rome 6. Engineers built roads, bridges, baths, and ampitheaters. They built aqueducts to carry water into their cities.

Government 7. The government in ancient Rome was a republic also known as a representative democracy.
