ADMINISTRATION OF REGENTS EXAMS

Preparation

Must be given copy of the directions for administration several days in advance P R O C T O R

Clock in sight of all students Make preparations prior to keep noise and other distractions to minimum “Do Not Disturb Sign on doors” Clock in sight of all students If not possible-proctor indicates time on the board at intervals not exceeding ½ hour throughout the exam period Students informed to provide own pens, pencils, erasers, and rulers Ensure student has appropriate calculator All memory with programming capability must be cleared Any added applications removed Clean copies of reference table Found online Provide Essay Booklets, Scrap Paper and Graph Paper

Set prior plans to identify students entering the room Follow examination schedules and timely administration At discretion of principal, schools may begin earlier than the specified time Ensure SWD receive testing accommodations specific to their IEP or 504 Accommodation Plan

P R O C T O R Reader – Administered Exam Use regular exam booklet One hour prior to exam - booklet given to proctor to familiarize him/her self by administrator Entire test must be read – passages, questions, and answer choices Neutral manner Read word for word Includes the reading of all mathematical numbers and symbols Test questions may never be modified, nor additional examples provided P R O C T O R

Examination

Ensure no electronic devices are in the classroom Proctors should keep theirs put away Guarantee students are not permitted to obtain or give information to other students in any way May give warnings and/or move students

Any student observed with any prohibited device while taking a State exam must be directed to turn it over to the proctor/monitor Student continues to take the exam If principal determines that the student had a prohibited device in his or her possession during the test administration, test must be invalidated Incident must be promptly reported to OSA

At the beginning of each test administration, proctors must read the statement to all students taking the exam: P R O C T O R You cannot have any communications device, including a cell phone, with you during this test or during any breaks (such as a restroom visit). Such devices include, but are not limited to: • Cell phones • iPods and MP3 players • iPads, tablets, and other eReaders • Personal laptops, notebooks, or any other computing devices • Cameras or other photographic equipment • Wearable devices/smart wearables, including smart watches and health wearables with a display • Headphones, headsets, or in-ear headphones such as earbuds • Any other device capable of recording audio, photographic or video content, or capable of viewing or playing back such content If you brought any of these items to the building today, and have not already stored it in your locker or turned it over to me or a school official, you must give it to me now. You may not keep your cell phone or any of these items with you, or near you, including in your pockets, backpack, desk, etc. If you keep a cell phone or any of these items with you, your examination will be invalidated and you will get no score. Is there anyone who needs to give me any of these items now? [Proctor: repeat list of devices.] This is your last opportunity to do so before the test begins.

P R O C T O R Circulate the room periodically Should point out to students when they have left and answer(s) blank No one may interpret or explain exam questions to any student Staff not permitted to discuss or duplicate test questions or content Booklets cannot be opened prior to distribution P R O C T O R

Students are not permitted to leave and then return – unless accompanied by proctor Students who withdraw from the sight of the proctor during exam must have exam terminated Any exam removed from room without authorization must be invalidated P R O C T O R

When completed, all answer materials (used/unused) must be collected and checked in – done prior to leaving room No one may alter the student’s response once it is handed in Students must sign Declaration at the end of the exam P R O C T O R
