NMAAHC Ambassador Program Event National Museum of African American History and Culture   Hosting an Official NMAAHC Ambassador Program Event NMAAHC Ambassadors are invited to host events with the Museum in their local cities and regions. These events provide opportunities to introduce peers to the Museum’s mission and vision. Ambassadors hosted events function as occasions to cultivate new NMAAHC Ambassadors through your peer connections and personal and professional networks. Creating a connection to NMAAHC by highlighting some aspect of its content is essential to these events.   To host an Ambassador-sponsored event, please submit the official Ambassador event proposal form to NMAAHCAmbassadors@si.edu. Proposals are accepted year-round. There are several factors to consider when planning an Ambassador-sponsored event, including: Standard event elements: Event should include Museum programming as determined by staff. Event should include a direct appeal to join the NMAAHC Ambassadors program and make a financial commitment to the Museum. Each event will have a target fundraising goal depending on the size of the event. In most cases, we encourage hosts to have new Ambassadors signed up prior to the event to announce during the event. Date:  In order to receive assistance from NMAAHC staff and create an organized and effective cultivation event, Ambassadors are required to submit proposal at least 8 weeks in advance of the desired event date. The quantity and timing of events will be dependent upon the availability of NMAAHC staff and the existing Museum calendar. Logistics: As an event host, an Ambassador or group of Ambassadors will have the opportunity to coordinate with staff regarding: location/logistics/guest list/ and content. The hosting Ambassador(s) will provide the majority of associated costs for the event. Museum staff will assist with providing: collateral materials/program content/invitations/follow-up communications/as well as other programmatic logistics concerning the event. Size: Target attendance should be between 50 and 150 people. Invitations: To ensure a cohesive look in our efforts to generate support from the Museum, hosts are required to use the museum’s branding identity for invitations and other branded materials. NMAAHC staff will design and distribute invitations and the hosting Ambassador(s) will be a part of the invitation approval process. Samples of types of events: Salon style reception featuring Museum or community leaders Happy hour networking event between current and prospective Ambassadors Dinner at a private location Cocktail reception with Museum leadership Private focused discussion and lunch/tea/or reception (content for event programming may include: collections/museum design/exhibitions/other Museum content)
