How do you decide what to study...? What are you good at? What do you enjoy? Do you have a career in mind? Search courses and unis on UCAS Visit UCAS conventions What is most important to you?

Is there a work placement? Is there a work placement? What to look for...? Name of the course BA (Hons) Business Studies Entry requirements 5 GCSEs A*-C 112 UCAS Points Years of study 3 Years 4 Years (with optional placement) Is there a work placement? Yes, paid placement year in 3rd year. This can be abroad! How are you assessed? Coursework and exams Name of the course Entry requirements Years of study Is there a work placement? How are you assessed?

What qualifications will you need? 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (including Maths, English and for some courses, Science) UCAS Points (from A Level or BTEC courses) Each course at University will have different entry requirements Entry requirements will vary from university to university Work experience (if needed) Portfolio of work (if needed)

How do you apply to university...? 1 Apply through the University & Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) Online at www.UCAS.com 2 Apply a year before you want to start (usually in your second year) Deadline 15th January College will usually have an internal deadline (before Christmas holiday) Earlier deadline for Oxbridge and for Dentistry, Veterinary Science, Medicine 3 Choose up to five institutions and courses Pay app fee (£24) then use UCAS Track All full-time HE courses in UK Online application form – register at www.ucas.com Apply a year before you want to start the course (Yr 13) 3 and half months to apply. Deadline is 15th January Choose up to 5 different institutions or courses Pay application fees (£22) and send completed form Check status online via "UCAS track" Note: Submitting application after 15 January Applications received after the deadline will be considered by the institutions at their discretion.

Unconditional Conditional Interview Unsuccessful Application Firm = your first choice Insurance = your second choice Conditional -The University/College will offer you a place if you meet certain, conditions, which are usually based on your exams Unconditional - You have met all the academic requirements and the University or College is happy to accept you Interview - Some course require you to have an interview before making you an offer Unsuccessful application - may be due to experience/grades or course might be full

UCAS Extra and Clearing If you've not received any offers or declined all your offers you've received You might be able to apply for another course through UCAS Extra UCAS will notify you if you have 'Extra' status Clearing If your results haven't gone quite to plan, you can contact universities directly to see if they have any spaces on alternative courses on results day Clearing is how universities and colleges fill any places they still have on their courses Adjustment You've met and exceeded conditions for your firm choice, you might be thinking about looking for an alternative course You can do this in UCAS 'Track'
