First grade is an amazing year! Your son/daughter will grow leaps and bounds academically, socially, emotionally and physically. He/she will develop into a fluent reader and writer while increasing his/her comprehension and vocabulary. First graders will develop math skills based on first grade learning targets which include basic addition and subtraction, time to the hour and half hour, skip counting, money, and more. History, mapping, and life cycles are some topics of social studies and science studies.
