4 Daily Schedule 8:30-8:45 Students arrive/Unpack/Warm-up/Announcements

5 Specials We have a 4 week block rotation.
Specials include PE, Music, and Art. The students schedules will change each week. Please make sure the students wear proper shoes on PE days I have each weeks Specaials schedule posted on my website in the Week at a Glance

6 Library Schedule Weekly checkout will take place on Monday each week
Students will be encouraged to check out 2 books each week. Both books must be returned on time in order to check out new books.

7 Reader’s Workshop Reader’s Workshop will include:
The teacher will read aloud books, students will participate in accountable talk. Guided reading groups: small groups formed based on reading levels with the teacher Independent Reading, “just right books” – we will work on comprehension skills and tackling multisyllabic words

8 Writer’s Workshop Students will write daily. Our focus will be on personal narratives stories (small moments) and expository writing. We will focus on several editing and revising skills, such as: Capitalization, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.

9 Spelling We will review words throughout the week during Reading Intervention. We will take our spelling tests on Fridays. We will have weekly spelling HW using the words found on your child’s list (Tic-Tac-Toe)

13 Discipline Wildcats are Respectful, Responsible, and Safe!
Positive Discipline – Class Dojo and Coupons Students will receive conduct marks for discipline issues reported on their Wednesday Progress Report

14 Homework Students will receive Homework weekly on a half sheet.
Monday: Spelling (Tic-Tac-Toe activity) Tuesday: Fact Practice (Flash Cards) Wednesday: Math – Addition/Subtraction practice Thursday: Practice Spelling for Friday’s test

15 Daily Take Home Folder School/Home communication
On Mondays homework will be sent out, and on Fridays homework is due Send notes/lunch money with your student Check nightly and remove papers

16 Wednesday folder Wednesday folders will include:
all graded work from the previous week Communication from the school Flyers from the community Weekly progress report Progress reports Report Cards **Return Wednesday folders on Thursday!!

17 Attendance * Call or the Registrar, Marie Solorzano regarding absences * If your child is absent, you must send or fax in a signed note within 3 days for it to be excused. * Doctor’s notes are accepted as an absence note. * If your child is absent more than 5 days, a doctor’s note is required.

18 General Information Dress code:
* Shorts under skirts – must be to the fingertips * Shirts - no belly buttons showing or spaghetti straps * Boys no sleeveless shirts (jerseys) Birthdays: * Birthday snacks - Ice Cream passes or STORE bought treats can be distributed at lunch * Invitations can be sent to the whole class, or just boys/girls.

19 General information – cont.
* Send healthy snacks/water bottles for our afternoon; No candy, chips, cookies, or messy snacks. *Transportation changes must be made in writing or fax with your ID, signed by parent, and submitted by 3p.m. Follow-up fax messages with a phone call to the school for verification that it was received. *Sign and return progress report & report cards the next day * Equipment/toys need to stay at home unless requested by the teacher!
