Journal #3 In chapter 3, Atticus tells Scout that “you never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.” What are your reactions to this statement? Have you ever had an experience where you walked in someone else’s shoes? What did you learn?

TKAM Notes #2 – Elements of Fiction The narrator tells the story to the audience. First-person Third-person limited Third-person omniscient A flashback is an interjected scene that takes the narrative back from the current point that the story has reached. A character is a person who is responsible for the thoughts and actions within a story.

Practice What kind of narrator does this story have? Who is the narrator? Does To Kill A Mockingbird make use of flashback? If so, where do you see this happening? Who are the characters we have been introduced to so far? What are their relationships with one another?
