Book One develops the following relationships: Scout is the one telling the story and the one “learning lessons” Scout Finch Jem Finch Dill Baker Boo Radley Miss Maudie Atticus Finch Jem and Dill influence Scout’s actions and childhood behaviour Boo Radley sits in the middle; he is a tool to teach morals to the children and he is a symbol of kindness Miss Maudie teaches truth and is a powerful ‘motherly figure’ for Scout Atticus, at the opposite end, is a “moral compass” for Scout. He teaches and guides the children appropriately
