RHONE RIVER: a modern waterway The Rhone River 330 km, from Lyon to the sea 13 large gauge river locks (190 m x 12 m x 3 m) 1 maritime lock (133 m x 19 m x 5.5 m) Clearance height : 7 m (normal) – from 6.3 to 7 m at some points Channel : 60 m x 3 m 24h / 7 days open (except annual stoppage time for maintenance) Remote control for all the locks from the Rhone traffic management centre France

The rhone traffic management center : organizational principles I am chief navigation technician. I am the “conductor” of the room. I accepts (or declines) the taking over of the locks and I check that all the locks are well supported by a navigation technician. I organize the work of the team. I manage the river traffic. I am navigation technician of navigation. We are 1 to 7 and we operate the locks. 18/09/2018
