SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAS

Allocations Lynn McAllister tracks all Special Education Para Allocations. Special Education Allocation Letters will be sent to all School Principals in February for the upcoming school year.

Determining Allocations The allocation will be based on the number of Center Program Paras required and the number of additional support paras Prior to sending the allocation letter, Lynn will verify the number of additional support paras required with the Special Education Support Partners. Prior to sending the allocation letter, Lynn will verify the number of additional support paras required with the Special Education Support Partners.

Allocation Letters The allocation letters will be sent to: Special Education Support Partner Secretary or Office Manager Principal Financial Partner

School Principal Hire RIB Center Program Paras It is the school principal’s responsibility to either hire or RIB the center program paras based on the schools current number of center program paras and the allocation for the upcoming year. Hire RIB

Additional Support Paras The Special Education Support Partner will present the request to the Para Committee. Schools should make their requests for additional support paras to their Special Education Support Partner If the request is approved, Tom will notify Lynn. Lynn will update the allocation letter and give the school instructions for posting the new position

Please do not inform the school that they have a new para Please do not inform the school that they have a new para. Lynn will send the Special Education support partner a copy of the new allocation letter, and email to the school principal.

Paras funded from Budget Assistance Funds Are approved on an annual basis. The school is responsible to make a new request if the assistance needs to be continued in the new school year. For example: If we funded a third para for a MI program due to a high number of students, that para would not appear on the new allocation. A new request would need to be made for the upcoming school year. The new request would most likely not be approved until the fall adjustment is completed.
