Implications of Prayer

Philippians 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Prayer implies belief in: The personality of God

God is a personal God Matthew 6:9 In this manner, therefore, pray:       Our Father in heaven,       Hallowed be Your name. Acts 17:27-29 Matthew 10:28-30

Prayer implies belief in: The personality of God Man’s Need For Help

Man’s Need For Help 2 Corinthians 12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong. Revelation 3:17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— 1 Corinthians 10:12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.

Man’s Need For Help Philippians 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 1 Peter 5:6-7 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

Prayer implies belief in: The personality of God Man’s Need For Help The nearness of God

The nearness of God Acts 17:27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; cf. Matthew 6:9 Psalm 139:7-10 Hebrews 10:22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. James 4:8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Prayer implies belief in: The personality of God Man’s Need For Help The nearness of God The Power of God

The Power of God James 5:16-18 Luke 18:1-8 Hebrews 1:1-3; 2 Peter 3:5-7

Prayer implies belief in: The personality of God Man’s Need For Help The nearness of God The Power of God The Providence of God

The Providence of God 1 Peter 3:12 Romans 8:26-28 1 Peter 3:12 For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous,        And His ears are open to their prayers;       But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil. Hebrews 13:5-6 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” 6 So we may boldly say:       “ The LORD is my helper;       I will not fear.       What can man do to me?”

Prayer implies belief in: The personality of God Man’s Need For Help The nearness of God The Power of God The Providence of God God’s desire to answer us

God’s desire to answer us Matthew 7:9-11 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! 1 John 5:14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. cf. James 4:3

Prayer implies belief in: The personality of God Man’s Need For Help The nearness of God The Power of God The Providence of God God’s desire to answer us
