The Issue of Prayer October 23, 2016
God wants us to work with Him, and that means bringing our will and agenda into alignment with His. He wants us to care about the things He cares about, and He wants us to care about them enough to pray passionately about them. Guzik

Philippians 4:5(b)-7 The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us.

Ephesians 3:20-21 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us.

John 15:7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us.

We have our requests not always as we pray but as we would pray were we wiser. God often gives us not what we ask but what we need. God binds Himself to grant our requests, but He limits Himself to no particular method of granting them. R. A. Hallam (1800’s)

Galatians 4:6-7 And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.

1 John 5:15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of Him.

1 John 5:15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of Him.

2 Corinthians 6:1 Working together with Him, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain.

For each prayer request, we should mentally or vocally ask, “What possible reason do I have to think that God will answer this prayer?” We should be able to answer that question from His Word.” Guzik

1 John 5:13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.

For Our Consideration Why do you believe it is important for us to pray? Why is confidence necessary when we pray? How does abiding in Christ and His word affect prayer? Do you believe God wants to use you in His work?

Prayer Focus Thank You Lord for the gift of prayer Thank You that You hear us when we pray Thank You that You love us Thank You for Your word that instructs us
