“PHYSICAL ASPECT OF PERSONALITY”

PHYSICAL ASPECT OF PERSONALITY Heredity and environment determine the entire physiological system of an individual. Posture, body build and size, complexion and facial expressions, as well as the appropriateness and condition of clothes, comprise the physical appearance of a person.

PHYSICAL ASPECT OF PERSONALITY These include physical health and hygiene, grooming, accessories, make-up, posture, and the use of color combinations.

Physical health and hygiene Care of skin, hair, eyes, and the brain Exercise Nutrition

Physical health and hygiene Physical well-being is the best form of security one can have. Our physical health is one barometer of physical strength and endurance under stress. The maintenance of good physical health is attained through physical hygiene. Physical hygiene is the maintenance of personal cleanliness and sanitation of the body. Daily body cleanliness consists of daily bath, daily elimination habits, 2 liters of drinking water, rest, and sleep. Air free from pollution and sunshine are also important. A daily well-balanced diet will enhance the skin, brain, hair, and eyes.

Physical health and hygiene - Brain The brain belongs to the central nervous system. The automobile will not perform without the engine, just as the brain will not function without the CNS. Take note that quality output from the machine can only be achieved through care and maintenance of the machine. When we invest in our brain, we invest in our life as well.

Physical health and hygiene - Brain Provide the brain with good food, enough sleep, fresh air, exercise, relaxation and positive outlook.

Physical health and hygiene - Brain

Physical health and hygiene - exercise Modern living demands awareness of the value of exercise. Physical body circulation are hampered, making hypertension and heart disease among the common causes of high mortality rate. Learn at least 1 sport for strengthening your body.

Physical health and hygiene - exercise A balance diet.

Physical health and hygiene - SKIN Some rules to follow:

Physical health and hygiene - HAIR This is your crowning glory. A clean, well brushed hair, styled fashionably, but not too eye-catching is important.

Physical health and hygiene – hands, legs and feet If your hands are not the ‘hands you love to hold’, then you must spend a little extra time on them each day. Your nails should not be too long and not ruggedly bitten. Legs should be free from superfluous hair. There is nothing more unsightly than a grown lady wearing stockings with long hair poking out. The daily care for the feet should include bathing for cleanliness. Avoid corns, and callous by wearing correct and comfortable shoes.

grooming Good grooming means appropriate clothes on the appropriate occasions, besides being neat and clean in every detail is necessary when it comes to clothing and the self.

accessories Accessories are a must for women. They are regarded as indispensable in the life of a woman to complement her appearance. These include jewelry, shoes and bags.

What’s So Important about DRESS? First impressions are CRITICAL! You are marketing a product – YOURSELF! Dress is the first thing an employer sees when greeting you! Will dressing properly get you the job? NO, but it will: Give you a competitive edge Provide a positive first impression!

What’s So Important about DRESS? Should you be judged by what you wear? PERHAPS NOT THE REALITY: You ARE judged With the job interview, it’s HOW YOU ARE DRESSED that sets the tone of the interview.

Hint for dress success… Make sure you have: Clean and polished conservative dress shoes Well-groomed hairstyle Cleaned and trimmed fingernails Minimal cologne or perfume No visible body piercings beyond conservative ear piercings for women Well-brushed teeth and fresh breath No gum, candy, or other objects in your mouth Minimal jewelry No body odor

dress for success – women Wear conservative colors Matching blazer and skirt or pants – dark colors with light colored blouse – nothing low-cut Dress/khaki slacks (pressed) and long-sleeve button-down shirt Skirt length should be a little below the knee and NEVER shorter than above the knee Avoid wearing tight clothing Shoes should be low-heeled Make-up should be minimal Lipstick and nail polish in conservative tones Bring a briefcase rather than a purse

dress for success – men Wear conservative colors Conservative suit or sports coat and pressed dress/khaki slacks White long-sleeved button-down shirt Conservative silk tie (optional) Polished dress shoes Belt that matches shoes If you have a beard or mustache: Make sure it is neatly trimmed If you have any visible body parts pierced or tattooed: Remove all piercings and cover all tattoos if possible

Dressing on the job Once you’ve landed the job… Consult your supervisor as to what is acceptable dress for his/her department Ask about any “casual days” and what type of dress is allowed on those days When in doubt, DRESS CONSERVATIVELY!
