I. The Language Components For EYL : Grammar Vocabulary Pronunciation

A. Grammar For example : This is an orange and that is an apple In english learning, grammar and vocabulary cannot be apart because the patern or grammar need to be given with vocabulary to make a conteks meaningful. That’s why in EYL class, grammar and vocabulary should be learn and studied together. For example : This is an orange and that is an apple These are oranges and those are apples This is a mango and that is a banana These are mangoes and those are bananas

Here are some advices to learn grammar in EYL class : Choose the patern or language rule that needed to speak simple english. Serve the simplier pattern first and organize the material from easier to harder. Serve grammer point in meaningful conteks for the EYL, use simple sentence for daily activities. Give EYL a chance to apply the pattern. Drill can be done sufficiently to steady the EYL understanding about one pattern. Use flash card if it’s needed

B. Vocabulary Generally children can learn vocabulary faster and easier if it supports with learning media or visual aid also related with children world. Vocabulary learning cn be done through four steps as following : Introduce the new word distinctly and clear spelling by using picture or real thing. Give example by acting as a model. Ask the student to imitate and practice Help the EYL to apply the word in real situation

C. Pronunciation English pronunciation is totally different with Indonesian pronunciation. EYL is introduced the alphabet by singing them so the EYL will enjoy it. To have a mastery the hard sound could be handle by following ways : Say the sound clearly, show how the word spelled. Listen and repeat is one of the suitable technique to practice the pronunciation. Show and compare with other letter or sound. example : /p/ and /b/ /k/ and /g/ Demonstrate with your tongue.

II. Learning Media Media according to Romiszowski “ any extension of man which allows him to effect other people who are not in face to face with him. Thus, communication media include letters, television, film, radio, printed matter and telephone “ Media according to Heinich “ media come from Latin Medium, means communication instrument or mediator which bring information between source and receiver “

The Advantage of Media Learning Simplify the learning process and make it perfect. Reduce the use of mother tongue or first language. Raise the motivation or learn interest of young learners Explain the new concept of english learning so the young learners could understand the lesson easier and fun Generalize the perseption Increase the quality of english learning Make the learning more interesting and interaktif

Kind & The Use of Media Generally media has three type, they are : Visual Media Audio Media Audio Visual Media EYL like to see the performance & hear the story by using puppets. Here are the type of puppets finger puppet glove puppets stick puppets

Here some simple media that could be developed and used as EYL’s teacher Circular cards, it contents two pieces of thick paper in circle shape Flip card, it rectangle thick paper with appropriate size to teach singular-plural form Flash card, it’s a large card, usually using thick, stiff paper, usually A4 Realia, it’s three dimension things and bringable.
