ABOUT ME My name is Nerosa and I was born in Canada. Both my parents were born in Sri Lanka. My parents had lived in Sri Lanka for most of their years until they moved to Canada 20 years ago. Sri Lanka is an island on the south coast of India. Sri Lankan culture has been around for more than 2000 years. Sri Lanka is separated by the two languages; Singhalese, and Tamil. My family is from the Tamil part of Sri Lanka

SRI LANKAN CULTURE Tamils have a tradition and culture that were created long ago but are still continued through today.

SRI LANKAN CULTURE During the Tamil New Year, we light up fireworks and give gifts to everyone.

SRI LANKAN CULTURE The cultural dance is Bharata Natyam. When we dance Bharata Natyam we wear traditional clothing and a lot of jewelry.

SRI LANKAN CULTURE Our cultural food is rice and curry served on banana leaves, this is the traditional way of eating.

SRI LANKAN CULTURE Our cultural clothing for women are sarees, shalwar for girls, sarong + shirt for men and boys. For special occasions women wear gold jewelery.

SRI LANKAN CULTURE Along with traditional clothing on special occasions women wear henna.
