ANCIENT EGYPTIAN CLOTHING CONT. Ancient Egyptians wore clothes just like us. But their clothes were different their clothes were not like ours. I’m sure they had some similarities but not much. Also, what some of the clothes were made of. Most of the clothes were we wear today but made out of different material. In this Power Point I am going to be talking about what Egyptians wore.

WHAT ANCIENT EGYPT CLOTHES WERE MADE OUT OF Ancient Egyptian clothes were made out of a lot of things. Most of there clothes were made out linen. Linen was a type of plant that was grown along the Nile which a was also made of flax. When the flax was harvested along the Nile then it was soaked so it was soft for when the Egyptians put it on. They did that so the flax wouldn’t be all rough and it would bother the Egyptians while they wore it would be all nice and soft. Before the flax became into thread and woven into clothes it was first and separated into fibres then they were beaten to make clothes. Their clothes were also made out of animal hides.

ANCIENT EGYPTIAN CLOTHES MEN WORE All men in ancient Egypt wore wrapped-round skirts. So the skirt wouldn’t fall off they tightened it with a belt around their waist. The skirt was sometimes wrapped around their legs. Depending from the fashion at the time the length of the skirt mattered. When ancient Egypt was in the Old Kingdom the skirts were short. When ancient Egypt was in the Middle Kingdom time it was about to where your calf is. When the time of the New Kingdom came along it was fashionable to wear a pleated garment. A pleated garment is a creased piece of clothing or a folded piece of clothing. The best Quality of linen was afforded or bought by the most rich Egyptian men. The linen the rich men got were very fine and almost see-through. The men decorated their clothes when they could. They wore as much jewelry as they could on their neck collars, pendants, and more. The men also wore head dresses on special occasions. Men also wore tunics. Tunics were long shirts that reached to the knees.

ANCIENT EYGYPTIAN ANCIENT EGYPTIAN CLOTHES WOMEN WORE Egyptian women wore full length dresses that were long. The dresses had one or two shoulder straps. When the New Kingdom period was going on it was fashionable and pretty for women to wear draped or pleated dresses. Rich Egyptian women wore dresses with the type of linen that was transparent. The rich women like the also decorated their dresses or clothes with jewelry and head dresses. The women also liked to wear tunics. Egyptian men and women also wore transparent robes. The robes were pleated. Sometimes women wore long skirts or dresses that had the style of the tunics. They also had beautiful designs on their clothes.

ANCIENT EGYPTIAN CLOTHES CHILDREN WORE Egyptian children didn’t wear clothes. They wore clothes about until they were 6 years old. So they had to spend 6 years without wearing clothes until the age 6 they could start wearing clothes. They didn’t wear different clothes than their parents. They wore the same clothes no difference was made between their clothes and their parents clothes. When they were 6 they wore skirts if they were boys. The same for girls they also wore long dresses. I think they wore clothes until they were 6 because they were probably hot in the dessert since they lived there.

ANCIENT EGYPTIAN FOOTWEAR Ancient Egyptians would not usually wear anything on there feet. They would walk barefoot. The only time they wore shoes was on a special occasion they would wear sandals. Or when their feet were going to get hurt by something like rocks or something that was going to be hurtful to their feet. The sandals they wore were made out of palm, papyrus, or leather. The sandals woven out of papyrus and palm were worn by the poor people. The shoes made out of leather were worn by the rich people.
