3 City-States Greek city-states were a bunch of villages that banded together to form city-states. After a while many city-states began to form all around Greece. Even though there was no one ruler of Ancient Greece they all shared same customs. Today we do not have city-states in the United States and we do have one person in charge. And instead of city-states we have states, counties, and cities. Also we do have some of the same customs.

4 Men Greek men ran government. They also didn’t spend a lot of time at home but spent most of their time working like trading, sailing, hunting, and farming. And Greek men liked to gossip and talk at barber shops when they cut their hair. Today is almost like in Greek days. Men and women spend a lot of time working their jobs. Also today some guys don’t even cut their hair and let it grow long.

5 Women Greek women had very little time out of the house. With their husbands permission they could attend things for a short period of time. They couldn’t leave the house at all without the husbands permission, even if they wanted to go to the temple they still needed permission. Today women can leave the house as they please. Women today have jobs and work for the family. So they don’t have to stay home.
