Departure procedures and information delivery Lazorenko

ATC departure clearance ATC departure clearance is transmitting by GROUND unit and by DELIVERY unit in aerodromes with high intensity. ATC departure clearance should be delivered to the aircraft before the request for “Start-up”. ATC departure clearance may be requested by a pilot: P:…ready to copy ATC departure clearance… And may be proposed by ATC unit: C:…are you ready to copy ATC departure clearance?... The message of ATC departure clearance have an appropriate order of delivery: C: FLP707 cleared to Zurich via flight plan route, GATA7C departure, initially climb to altitude 2000 ft., when airborne (after take-off) contact radar 118.1, Squawk 6565. P: (read back) Lazorenko

ATIS Preparing for the intended flight pilot should get all the necessary information he needs for the flight to be performed safely. After he have got the necessary information from ATIS he must inform ATC about reception in a manner of giving him designation letter of ATIS information. P: …information Bravo received. If pilot didn’t inform controller about having ATIS information or the designation letter is obsolete ATC may ask: C: …do you have information ATIS Or give a pilot an instruction: C: …monitor information ATIS (on frequency 123.7). Lazorenko 5

Push back procedure Pushback is an airport procedure during which an aircraft is pushed backwards away from an airport gate by external power Pushbacks are carried out by special, low-profile vehicles called pushback tractors or tugs. Tugs attaching to aircraft with the help of towbar. Some airports have towbarless tugs and even semi-robotic towbarless tractor which is called “Taxibot” Lazorenko 6

Push back procedure Request from a pilot P: FLP707 request push back from stand G3 to stand 7 (for start-up). Clearance C: FLP707 push back (from stand G3 to stand 7) approved. Since the pilots cannot see what is behind the aircraft, steering is done by the pushback tow driver. After clearance is received pilot will communicate with the pushback tractor driver to start the pushback. To communicate, a headset may be connected near the nose gear. Lazorenko 7

Towing procedure Towing is a process to take aircraft to stand where it is allowed to initiate start- up procedure. Request from a pilot P: FLP707 request tow (towing) from stand 3 to stand 7 (for start-up)… Clearance C: FLP707 tow (towing) from stand 3 to stand 7 approved Towing carry out by tug drivers. While towing it is very convenient for pilot to obtain ATC departure clearance. Therefore ATC’s try to deliver route clearance exactly at this period. Lazorenko 8

Taxiing P: FLP707 request taxi instructions. Or P: FLP707 ready to taxi. --------------------------------- C: FLP707 are you ready to taxi C: FLP707 taxi to the holding point of RW26R via TW2, MAIN TW (CENTRAL TW) and TW1. TW 2 TW 1 MAIN TW RW 26L RW 26R FLP 707 HP Lazorenko 9

Runway crossing P: FLP707 at TW1 request cross RW26L. C: FLP707 cross RW 26L. In addition we also may use: Expedite crossing or expedite vacation Report vacation or report vacated TW 2 TW 1 MAIN TW RW 26L RW 26R FLP 707 HP Lazorenko 10

Line-up P: FLP707 request line-up 1)C: FLP707 line-up 2)C: FLP707 line-up and wait --------------------------------------- C: FLP707 are you ready for immediate departure P: affirm (ready for immediate departure) C: FLP707 *…line-up and take-off * - information about wind according to take-off procedure TW 2 TW 1 MAIN TW RW 26L RW 26R FLP 707 HP Lazorenko 11

Take-off P: FLP707 Ready for (to) take-off TW 2 TW 1 MAIN TW RW 26L RW 26R FLP 707 HP P: FLP707 Ready for (to) take-off C: FLP707 wind 230° 7 m/s gusting to 12 m/s cleared for take-off If crosswind is ok for departing aircraft P: (wind 230° 7 m/s gusting to 12 m/s) taking-off (cleared for take-off) If crosswind exceeds acceptable level P: (unable take-off due crosswind) request runway vacation Lazorenko 12

Questions What is the content and the order of ATC Departure Clearance? How will pilot let you know that he knows ATIS information? How will you ask pilot about having information ATIS and how will you advise to if he does not have? Describe Push Back procedure. Describe Towing procedure. What is the difference between Push Back and Towing procedure? Describe Taxiing procedure. Describe RW crossing procedure. Describe Line-up procedure. Describe Take-off procedure. How to propose pilot to perform immediate departure? Lazorenko
