Production Stage Roles

Director Must have: Artistic vision A good understanding of scripting, camera-work and editing Good leadership abilities The ability to be demanding but not bossy The ability to cooperate with and inspire others Effective decision-making skills

Producer The ability to come up with a central idea or premise A good understanding of script development processes Excellent team-building skills Highly effective organisational capabilities Good communication and interpersonal skills Budgeting expertise

Camera Operator Responsibilities include: Must have working out camera positions working out shot sizes and angles preparing camera equipment such as batteries and tripods making sure all the equipment is always in working order. Must have Highly developed technical skills Good problem-solving abilities A sense of visual artistry and composition The ability to concentrate on visual details Good coordination (required to smoothly operate the camera)

Lighting Technician A full understanding of safety requirements A strong sense of visual artistry Excellent knowledge of different types of lighting Good attention to visual detail

Sound Recordist Knowledge of the different types of microphones and their pick up patterns Good aural skills and the ability to discern different sound qualities The ability to plan, think ahead and predict possible actor movements A strong sense of timing Patience Stamina
