September 25, 2017 Multiple Digit Multiplication Day Warm Up Lesson: <note packet> What do we know. Rules, Rules, Rules. Put it together. Do it again. Warm Up Estimate & Simplify. 76 x 3 89 x 2 57 x 4 43 x 9 Answers: 228, 178, 228, 387

What do we know? We can multiply by 1 digit numbers. Multiplying by multi-digit numbers is just multiplying by one digit over and over. This is a repeating pattern we can use to solve multiplication problems.

Rules, Rules, Rules! Step 1 Use the bottom right digit to multiply the digits in the top. Step 2 Move over to the next digit to the left in the bottom to multiply. Add a zero or place holder to show the place change. Step 3 Repeat step 2 until all digits in the bottom have been multiplied. Step 4 Add up all the products you created.

Put it together.

Do it again. 502 x 56 752 x 73 810 x 84 862 x 72 663 x 36 386 x 30 560 x 89 322 x 39
