Welcome to Preschool Mrs. Fast’s class of 2017

Mrs. Mandi Fast Graduated from University of Mary Washington in Virginia Special education teacher for 6 years in Virginia and Texas Lived in Virginia, Texas, Delaware, and now Indiana Married for 10 years with 3 kiddos Laurel, Ferris, and Linus

Daily Schedule Morning Afternoon 6:30-8:50 Before School Care/High Scope Stations 7:30-8:00 Breakfast (Teacher arrives 7:50) 8:45-9:10 Bathroom Break and Snack 9:10-9:30 Morning Circle 9:30-10:00 Gross Motor/Bathroom Break 10:00-10:45 Learning Stations 10:50-11:20 Lunch 11:20-12:00 Recess/Tumblebooks/Bathroom Break 12:00-2:00 Rest 2:00-2:20 Pick-up/Snack 2:20-3:00 Closing Circle/Large Group activity/Gross Motor 3:00-3:50 Outside/High Scope Stations 3:50-6:15 After School Care Curriculum The HighScope Curriculum emphasizes adult-child interaction,  a carefully designed learning environment, and a plan-do-review process that strengthens initiative and self-reliance in children and young people.

Plan-Do-Review Centers Table Toys/Manipulatives Music and Movement Sand and Water Art/Writing Science/Discovery Computers Language Arts /Math Dramatic Play/Dollhouse Blocks/Cars Reading Sand and Water – This area, equipped with a sensory table and small filling and dumping toys, allow children to feel, touch and manipulate materials of varied texture. Computers/Language –essential hands-on computer skills. Computer skills often mimic, supplement or reinforce learning that is begun in other areas. Reading –An assortment of books and story-telling props are available. Other alphabet or reading activities are included in the area for the development of cognitive skills.

Positive Behavior Support Always encourage behavior in a positive way. Walking Feet not “No Running” 1,2,3, Magic and Take Five Green, Yellow, Red Green (good) and Red (bad) Choices and Learning from those Choices

Pick up and Drop Off *Enter/exit through the LQA door; late arrivals or early dismissals must go through office Key cards will work from 6:30-8:50 am and 3:50-6:00 pm *Sign in/out: Emergency/Authorization pick-up form must be filled out *Anyone picking up a student for the first time will be asked to show ID *All tuition can go in the metal box outside the Preschool office. I can not touch your payment checks.

Breakfast and Lunch School Breakfast is 7:30-8:00. Your child bring breakfast to school or get one from the cafeteria. We eat breakfast in the classroom. We eat lunch at 10:50. Your child can buy or bring lunch to school. You are also welcome to eat lunch with your child. We only ask you wait till September to allow us time to establish our lunch routine. There are some days LQA is in session but the rest of the district is off. Your child will need to bring a lunch on these days. Our first day of school is August 1st and is one of these days. So please send a packed lunch on the first day of school. If you would like to bring in a special snack for in celebration of your child birthday you are welcome to bring a small treat. Please no cupcakes.

Nap Time We nap from 12:00-2:00 every day. Your child may have a small pillow, blanket, and one small stuffed animal if needed. Please no toys. Starting in October, we will begin ‘Special Class’. Students who are awake at 1:00 will be taken to another room for an activity till the end of nap time.

Weekly Papers Folders *Red folders will come home every Friday. *All completed work, weekly newsletters, and homework will come home in the folder, as well as anything that needs your attention or signature. *Homework will come home on Friday and is due the following Friday. These are for Monday through Thursday but flexible for your family needs.

Star of the week Monday-Star poster and questions Tuesday- Favorite book Wednesday- Wordle Thursday-Pictures of family and friends. Friday-Favorite item for show and tell. Please no video games or electronics.

Winter Weather If PCSC is closed, LQA is also closed However if PCSC is on a 2 hour delay, LQA will open on time as usual.
