4 School Policies and Procedures Families are allowed on campus at 8:25am. Supervision starts at 8:25 Children are to play on the playground until the bell rings at 8:37 Tardy slips after 8:40 Children are picked up at 3:00 when the bell rings – Please notify me of changes to their pick up plan Volunteers please sign in at the office

7 Curriculum Overview The California State Standards act as a blueprint for instruction. Writing -Journals, Story Retells, Poetry, Creative Writing, Paragraph, narrative, informative, opinion Reading - Macmillan McGraw Hill “California Treasures” includes: shared reading, language skills, spelling, Top 100 word list Math - Envision Math Program, number talks, calendar, math minutes, addition and subtraction fact practice, Xtra Math Science – Physical, Earth and Life science. We are Ocean Guardians=Focus on the Rocky Shore and Ocean animals.

10 Enrichment Check out the links on our class website! Writing- keep a family journal Reading to self- going to any library and choosing “good fit” books with your child I read, you read- Reading to and with your child Math- Xtra Math, Envision website and games!

11 Volunteers Thank you for all of the interest, volunteers truly make a difference! Please fill out the school form Please check tonight’s draft Volunteer schedule ART Class and Leveled Book Room Most jobs will have one adult per time slot. I will be in touch soon with a set schedule.

12 What can you do? Read, talk and listen to your child. Ask them to explain their thinking about…stories, math problems, science, feelings…everything! Take your child to the library. Check & return Daily Folder everyday Help your child complete the weekly homework activities with a focus on quality. Read letters, notes and email and attend to detail. Read Mr. Peterson’s Friday email.
