Betsy Johnson Melanie Greer

Wild Child Originally wanted to be a professional dancer, her love for costume was the foundation she built her brand on Widely known for her sexy silhouettes, hippie inspired flowing fabrics, and whimsical detailing Loves incorporating vivid neon dyes into her garments, as well as deep necklines and fullness in skirts and dresses Adequately able to use unconventional textiles (Ex: shower curtains, the interior lining of automobiles and the pinstriped wool of old New York Yankees uniforms)

60’s, 70’s, to present day Betsey first made her presence known in the industry through winning the guest editor for Mademoiselle’s magazine She was new to the designing scene during the 1960s, a time when fashion designers were considered stuffy, pretentious, and totally out of touch Her Avant Garde designs quickly became a part of the 60’s youth quake movement (Twiggy and Jackie Kennedy were two of many trendsetters who wore Betsey’s fresh quirky designs) In the 70’s and 80’s her punk rock style inspired her to create fashion for a new generation  Johnson went on to design slip dresses, drop-waist ballerina dresses, double knit A-line mini for her own line She kept current with the 1990s rave, grunge, medieval, and deconstructionist fashion movement and currently has her designs in mass merchandising stores such as Macy’s and Nordstrom
