Project on the theme: Strezhevoj’s City Sights At English lesson of 11- th grade Teacher Chindina N.P.

Introduction We want to tell you about our native city and show all his sights. I want everyone to enjoy it just as we do it.

Strezhevoy is located in the territory of Tomsk region in its extreme northwest point on the border with Hanta-Manciysk region. The town is located on a coast of the River Pasol, in 70 kms from railway station in Nizhnevartovsk. Strezhevoy was born in 1966. The main industry is oil industry. The population is 45000 people.

Monument to the lost pilots It was established in 1979 in memory of the pilots lost as a result of air accident because of broken engine in summer of 1979. The monument is located on the right side to the road to the airport, on a place of falling of the helicopter. Monument was made by crew members and students of the Kazan Air Institute. The monument was open on the eve of celebrating of the Day of Aircraft.

Features of the monument: It has a form of trapeze made of concrete, on the left side of is there is - part of the helicopter. The yellow emblem of the Soviet aircraft – sickle, hammer, wings is attached to the monument. Traditions: Pilots, young people come to the meetings in honour day of aircraft. Just married come there to put alive flowers.

Monument to the soldiers It is located on a coast of the river Pasol. It was established in 1981 by anniversary of the Great Victory. The initiative of a structure of the monument belongs to Evgenei Dmetreav.

Stella of the Victory It is located on the Square of the Victory. The author of the project of the monument – is Anton Kaperski. Features of the monument: The monument is made of a black granite and white marble. The monument consists of three plates in the form of rectangular. There is rhyme on the monument: ‘’ There is a glory, which will not be forgotten. There is a memory will not have end!’’ Stella reminds about the Great Victory of the Soviet people over the Fascism.

Monument to V.I.Lenin. It is situated on the Central Square. It was founded in 24.10.87. It is made of bronze and granite by Moscow sculptures and main architect of Tomsk region. Monument to Lenin is established in almost every town and city of our country. It was a symbol of the Soviet Union and now it is a memory of our history.

Monument to VLKSM It was founded in 1968 on Neftyanikov Avenue. It is made of cement and has a form of pyramid consisted of 5 cubes staying one on another. Cubes are a symbol of awards which VLKSM (All Union Lenin’s Communists union of young people) was rewarded. Under the monument there is a letter with wishes young comsomolis to young people of future. There are 3 dates on the monument: 1918- Time of VLKSM foundation. 1968 – The 50th anniversary of VLKSM 2018- The 100th anniversary of VLKSM. It 2018 was suggested to be the time of covering of the monument and reading the letter to young people of 21 century.

Monument “Nephtegrad began here…’’ It was founded in 1966 by students who came to Ctrezhevoy to build the town. The monument was a symbol of the birth of the town. It is consisted of 2 blocks. There are words on the monument: ‘’Nephtegrad began here’’

In conclusion: In spite our town is small we have many sightseeing and interesting history to tell to visitors. The monuments help us to learn a history of our town. Due to the monuments we glory the memory of people lost in the Wars and in accidents.
