1. WELCOME TO KIROVO-CHEPETSK

2. In 1935 a settlement for workers was founded near the Cheptsa River. Later this settlement grew into a town. The town is famous for its factories of chemical industry.

3. A lot of outstanding people were born, lived or worked in our town. More than that, Kirovo-Chepetsk is a town of sports glory.

5. On the Square (Ostrovsky Street), near the bus station, there is the oldest Palace of Culture «Druzhba» (Friendship). It was built in 1952. The building of the Palace looks like an ancient temple.

6. Many talented children are taught here to sing and dance. Adult town- dwellers celebrate the holidays on the stage of «Druzhba» or on the Square.

7. Here, at the crossroad of Mir Street and Ostrovsky Street, there is a Museum of local lore. Next year the Museum will celebrate its 55th anniversary. The Museum collects, studies, keeps and exhibits antiques and various collections. Children are frequent visitors of the Museum.

8. Not far from the Museum (Kirov Street) School № 4 is situated. It is one of the oldest schools in our town. Many famous sportsmen studied there.

9. Sports Complex «Olympia» is behind the Palace of Culture. It's a sports center where you can keep fit. There is a swimming pool, a fitness club, a gym and a sauna in it.

10. Walk a little further, please. You can see a new modern complex «Olymp-Arena». Young hockey players are trained here.

11. There is also a skating rink. It is a very popular place in winter. If you are tired, you can relax in the cafe. «Olymp-Arena» has a large car park. It is possible to meet famous people in «Olymp-Arena» (during Ice Shows).

12. There is a large Park in our town. It is called Komsomolsky Park. Some time ago it was the most favourite place in the town. Nowadays the upper part of the Park is being reconstructed.

13. The lower part of the Park is equipped with summer playgrounds for volleyball, basketball, tennis. There is also a football pitch, a playground and a sports ground. Those who like paintball can compete at weekends.

14. Kirovo-Chepetsk can be proud of its small zoo. The zoo was opened by one of the town businessmen. Children and parents are very fond of visiting the zoo. Children can feed the animals and take photos with them. At weekends horse riding is arranged.
