ITEM Training actions organized by CCOO ITEM – THIRD SEMINAR ITEM Training actions organized by CCOO The aim was to develope three courses for three different targets in the perspective of a holistic training approach to reinforce capacities at a TU regional level as CCOO de Catalunya works on October 2015 Training for TU Officers (Territorial + Union level) February 2016 Training for Shop Stewards and TU Officers (Unions) April 2016 EWC members of enterprises participating in ITEM

ITEM Seminar in Barcelona ITEM – THIRD SEMINAR ITEM Seminar in Barcelona 26-28 April, 2016 General Objective: “Improve use of European Information + Consultation tools at CCOO of Catalonia” Specific Objectives: Develop a specific training to reinforce EWC capacities facing restructuring processes Raise Awareness of Unionists about the usefulness of European Information and Consultation processes in case or restructuring processes Exchange best practices managing I+C processes among EWC leaders Extend knowledge of existing Trade Union models in Europe

Phase 1: The exercise – ‘Matrix in 3 steps’ ITEM – THIRD SEMINAR Phase 1: The exercise – ‘Matrix in 3 steps’ Development: During 5 hours 4 groups work with a matrix methodology to develop recommendations about EWC and restructuring. The exercise has 3 phases which are introduced by the trainers and assisted by EWC experts (1 each group). The introduction to the exercise is explained in Act. Sheets

Phase 1: The matrix exercise – Step 1 ITEM – THIRD SEMINAR Phase 1: The matrix exercise – Step 1 Each group works on one of the 4 columns of the Matrix: Company, EWC, Nat. Federation, European Fed. 4 crucial actions concerning restructuring are defined, organized in 4 categories: I + C, Negotiation, Communication and Union Action. The result is presented through giant Post-Its

Phase 1: The matrix exercise – Step 2 ITEM – THIRD SEMINAR Phase 1: The matrix exercise – Step 2 The same groups (language related) work now on the raws and organize in a time structure the actions that have been defined in the exercise before. 16 actions (4x4) by group are put on a timeline: A- Normal EWC function. B - Rumors, C - When I+C begins, D - Further negotiation

Phase 1: The matrix exercise – Step 3 ITEM – THIRD SEMINAR Phase 1: The matrix exercise – Step 3 The result of both activities, a set of actions, organized in 4 different ‘moments’ is prepared to be communicated to a wider audience. The groups choose a spokesperson and all together choose the 2 persons who next day will present the results to a wider EWC audience

Phase 2: Introduction by experts ITEM – THIRD SEMINAR Phase 2: Introduction by experts The conference (80) persons brings together the 25 ‘leaders’ with other EWC reps. A first part is offered in assertive form with 30 minute presentations followed by Q&A. From the case studies presented the day before, 2 are offered to this wider audience. Phase 3: An intercultural conclusion ITEM – THIRD SEMINAR Phase 3: An intercultural conclusion The conference was closed in the afternoon by Richard Hyman and Rebecca Gombrill Mc Cormick presenting the ETUI study: ‘Trade Unions in Europe: from crisis to renewal’
