WWI Vocabulary

WWI Vocabulary Central Powers- Alliance that included Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire Allied Powers – Alliance that included France, Great Britain, Russia, and later the United States Nationalism- Pride and loyalty to a nation

WWI Vocabulary Trench Warfare- Warfare in which soldiers dug into deep trenches across the battlefield Zimmermann Telegram- a telegram sent by Germany to Mexico asking them to declare war on the United States Lusitania- British passenger ship that was sunk by Germany

WWI Vocabulary Armistice- An end to the fighting Reparations- Monies a defeated nation has to pay for the destruction it caused Propaganda- Opinions expressed for the purpose of influencing the actions of others

WWI Vocabulary League of Nations- An organization set up after WWI to settle international conflicts Isolationism- Policy of opposing a countries involvement in international affairs Alliance- People or nations involved in a pact or treaty
