Objectives Describe how Windows stores files Identify parts of the File Explorer window Use File Explorer to navigate folders on your computer Copy, move, delete and rename files Create and use shortcuts Search for files Identify file types

File System Hierarchy Files are contained in folders.

File Types System Files Application Files Data Files In Windows or Program File folders .dll, .sys Application Files Part of a program, like Word, for running it .exe, .bat Data Files Ones you create, like a Word doc .docx, .mp3, .rtf, .pdf, etc.

The Window Minimize, Restore Down/Maximize, Close Window working in is ACTIVE WINDOW

File Explorer Windows provides 4 folders for personal files: Documents, Music, Pictures, Video
