Sights of London

General information about London London is the capital city of England and the United Kingdom. It’s the most beautiful city in the world. There are over 13 millions inhabitants in this city.

London stands on the river Thames.  It is a world cultural capital.

London is very rich in sights London is very rich in sights. All the historic places are in the West End and in the City.

Westminster Abbey is now a political centre of London Westminster Abbey is now a political centre of London. It’s the place where King Edward was buried and many kings and queens were crowned there.

The Palace of Westminster is where the two Houses of the Parliament of the United Kingdom meet. It’s one building consisting of two chambers: The House of Commons and the House of Lords.

Buckingham Palace, the Queen’s official London residence which is situated in the centre of the city.

St. Paul’s Cathedral is a masterpiece created by a well-known English architect Sir Christopher Wren. It includes the famous Whispering Gallery and many memorials.

In centre of Trafalgar squere stands a column and on the top of it there’s a figure of the great seaman Nelson. The column is guarded by four bronze lions.

National gallery of Art is one of the world’s leading art galleries National gallery of Art is one of the world’s leading art galleries. It has a large Collection of various European schools of art. And behind it there is the National Portrait Gallery.

The Tower of London was built by William the Conqueror to protect the city. It served as a palace, a prison and a fortress and now it’s a museum.
