Classical Period: 500 BC – 500 AD 1. Figure looks perfect & active (doing something) 2. No expression on face 3. They often went naked! (or they wore togas)

Medieval Period: 500 AD – 1400 AD 1. Religious theme 2. Important Figure is big 3. NO NUDITY!! 4. Paintings look flat, not a lot of background

Renaissance Period: 1400 AD – 1650 AD 1. Looks active 2. Symmetrical (Balanced on both sides) 3. Color responds to light 4. Real people doing real-life things 5. Nude or clothed!
