Cell City Project

Cells are like Cities Cells have different organelles that function just like the different parts of a city You are going to match the parts of the city to the organelles of a plant cell Good Luck!!

Town Hall Holds all the administrative offices of the city Tells the city how it is going to function

Nucleus Nucleus functions like the Town Hall Tells the cell what to do just like the town hall tells the city what to do

Power Plant Provides energy for all the people in the city

Mitochondria Mitochondria functions like the power plant of the cell It provides the energy for the cell just like a power plant

Garbage Truck/Landfill Landfills store waste Garbage Trucks transport or remove waste from houses or business to the landfills

Vacuole Vacuoles store and remove waste from a cell just like a garbage truck and landfill would for a city

Road and Highways Roads and highways are used to transport many things around the city

Smooth and Rough ER Although the Smooth ER makes chemicals, the main goal of the ER is to transport things throughout the cell just like roads

US Postal Service The postal service has many responsibilities. They package items we bring them They transport letters and packages across town

Golgi Body The Golgi Body packages and transports materials for the cell just like the post office does for our city

Grass and Forests The grass and forests of the city are kind of just in the background of the cell where nothing else is

Cytoplasm The cytoplasm does hold everything in place, but it is also just the background of the cell often overlooked

City Police The city police department works to protect the city It keeps the bad guys in jail and makes sure the good guys are following the rules

Cell Membrane The Cell Membrane works to protect the cell from intruders just like the city police
