LAUSD DI/BTSA INDUCTION Orientation 2010-2011 Welcome! LAUSD DI/BTSA INDUCTION Orientation 2010-2011 Slide 1: Welcome (Slides 1-2 = 2 minutes) Welcome to the orientation session for Year II BTSA Induction Program Participants. I am Peggy Taylor Presley and I serve as the Director for the LAUSD BTSA Induction Program. I’m joined by members of the LAUSD Induction team who will be working with you today. I’d like to take a few moments to introduce members of our team.

Expected Outcomes BTSA Program participants will review those components needed to complete the program in order to receive a recommendation for a clear credential. BTSA Program participants will review key elements of the formative assessment system as they relate to their professional practice (FACT). Slide 4: Expected Outcomes (Slides 4-8 = 5 minutes) The “why” of today’s session are shared on our next two slides. We want you to be able to: Review components related to program completion Review key elements of the formative assessment system which aligns with your program design

Expected Outcomes (continued) BTSA Induction participants will link aspects of the Essential Components of Instruction with the Quality of Teaching and Learning Rubric for effective instruction. BTSA Induction participants will identify key calendar dates and timelines essential to completion of the program by June 30, 2011. Slide 5: Expected Outcomes (Slides 4-8 = 5 minutes) You will have the opportunity to see the connections between the Essential Components of Instruction with the Quality of Teaching and Learning Rubric

Guiding Questions How might I use the information that I am learning today to inform my practice and increase my effectiveness in the classroom? What calendar dates and program components are critical to my completion of the program and who do I contact if I have questions? How do the characteristics of my students influence the structure of my classroom, learning environment and instructional planning? Slide 6: Guiding Questions (Slides 4-8 = 5 minutes) Our guiding questions have been crafted to assist you in identifying how today’s session and BTSA Induction components align to assist you in growing as a professional educator. Which of these questions represents a priority for you?

If you have a question regarding your eligibilty-pease see a member of our Induction team to seek clarification of your status. Our team members will be found at the rear of the room.
