Main Idea: ACE students are CTE students, including students identified as special populations. ACE is a comprehensive program including school-based, community-based & student leadership opportunities.
Basic Implementation:
A true partnership between local industry & organizations is required for the “cooperative” Work Based Learning component of ACE programs.

At-Risk is not excluded -- your ACE student population includes who would be best served by ACE programming.
Implementation Stress Supports:
ACE will positively impact your goal for more Work Based Learning in your district. ACE addresses technical skill attainment & PWR competencies for each ACE-CTE student through individualized training plans, this could include industry credentials.

There are five components of an ACE program: students, outcomes, teachers, CTSO & funding. There is a thoughtful plan for rollout of change by SY
Basic Implementation:
Our ACE program focus should shift to developmentally appropriate technical skill attainment and individualized work based learning opportunities connected to classroom instruction.

Implementation Stress Supports:
Starting in Fall 2017, info sessions, technical assistance support & promising practices will be available for all stakeholders in the ACE redesign. Full implementation is not until SY Conditional Status is not punitive.

Main Idea:
Every CTE-ACE instructor needs to be credentialed. If they are not -- these are the new requirements for the endorsement.
Basic Implementation:
Work with district CTE administrator to match your candidate's qualifications to seek an CTE - ACE endorsement.

Clarification for Common Confusion:
If you already hold an CTE-ACE endorsement -- YOU ARE ALL GOOD!
However everyone is welcome and encourge to participate in the state CTE work based learning professional development to renew their endorsement.
Implementation Stress Supports:
Starting Fall 2017, state CTE is offering courses in Work Based Learning virtually and face to face throughout the state to meet new ACE teacher credential requirements for developing work based learning.

A visual representation to frame your CTE-ACE program for ALL stakeholders, including parents, students & school staff.
Basic Implementation:
CTE-ACE programming is individualized, focused and intentional.

Implementation Stress Supports:
Districts will give you guidance on graduation guidelines-- let them know your ACE program is a great place for students to demonstrate competencies required for graduation. Be a part of the conversation around what that could look like for your students.

To increase the consistency and credibility of CTE-ACE programs through intentional pathway and course planning.
Basic Implementation:
Begin with the recommended course sequences & pathways and align what is already offered in your school to leverage existing programming in your ACE redesign implementation process.

Students have flexibility to change pathways to be responsive to their individual career & academic plan (ICAP)

Recommended course titles, descriptions and pathways are intended to resonate with current successful CTE-ACE practices! Choose one that works best for your context!

13. Pathway Sequences Main Idea:
These are recommendations for pathway and course sequences for districts to adopt to maintain a career development and individual technical skill attainment focused CTE-ACE program.
Basic Implementation:
To start steps toward full redesign implementation by SY , ensure that there is a sequence 1 in place for the CTE-ACE pathways that are currently applicable to your district.

14. Pathway Sequences Clarification for Common Confusion:
Sequence = Semester Course
Cluster Based & Specialized denote collaboration between CTE-ACE and other applicable CTE pathways/courses
Students can start an ACE Core pathway at any point in their personal course plan for graduation
ACE Core sequence 1 is a requirement to enter any other ACE pathway -- ACE teachers will likely have all three pathways in their program.
Classroom based courses like financial literacy & interpersonal skills do not lead to technical skill attainment -- work based learning with training plans does.

Technical assistance will be targeted to staff doing scheduling & student advising to support the changes in scheduling and credit accrual necessitated by these recommended pathways & courses.

Basic Implementation: This format meets compliance standards. Consider beginning with a POS that matches your scope and sequence. Use the course titles & pathway recommendations that align with what you have or plan to have in place to create a POS for your CTE-ACE program.

Programs of Study (POS) must be customized to the specific school’s ACE course offerings and CTE-ACE pathways aligned to the recommended options.
A school may have multiple POS for multiple student pathways.
Implementation Stress Supports:
A POS in CTE-ACE with the new recommended options will become a visual representation of an ACE student’s course planning to gain the competencies to be graduation ready.

A compilation of best practices that reflect state and local compliance requirements.

Review these best practices and compliance requirements -- identify the areas that you MUST seek technical assistance to meet the quality indicators

Main Idea:
SC2 is no longer optional -- all CTE programs have a CTSO -- including CTE-ACE.
Basic Implementation:
Review the SC2 website for everything you need to build your CTSO or to make it an ongoing inter curricular student organization.

SC2 is not just the annual student leadership conference -- it is an inter curricular leadership student organization that has ongoing activities each school year.
Implementation Stress Supports:
The program of work -- available on SC2 website -- is a great guidance document to make an annual plan for your SC2 CTSO integrated activities and student leadership training.
