Commercial Production Process

Production Facilities Pre-recorded sound effects would be used to make it more appealing for the audience and to make it sound and feel more realistic for the listeners. An example of pre recorded sound effects would be footsteps and then whilst there in editing they would add the footsteps on top of the footage. Working internally within radio stations this means the radio station creates there own adverts for there own shows and does not give them to other companies an example of this would be the radio station Capital advertising there summertime ball and jingle bell ball. Working through production houses this is when the radio station pays for another company to create there advert. An example is Radio 1 will go to a production company and pay for them to create there jingle. Use of production music this is for the audience to find it more interesting so they will want to listen to the radio. An example of this is when any radio station adds in music for listeners to listen to. Studio Facilities such as voice booth, editing work station, software. These are all facilities that are used to create a radio show for the listeners to listen to a high quality show. For example they would have this in a professional radio studio.

Different Production Roles Creative Producer are often the ones responsible for coming up with the idea, they also secure the rights and decide most of the job roles. This means they have a serous important job to maintain and keep everything in order. Recording Engineer someone who sets up and operates the equipment. This is a technical part of a job role so they would need someone who knows exactly what there doing and making sure everything is safe to operate Copywriter this is someone who writes the text for the advertisements. Making sure they are high quality and professional for the audience to listen to all the correct aspects of an advert. Voiceover Artist this includes people such as voice actors, celebrities, session vocalists this would be used to keep the listeners interested and engaged with the show. This is included in many adverts as it does work as an engagement technique.

Music Live is when an artist performs music at that current time when the show is being aired and is not generated by software. An example of this is when Radio 1 does there live session where they get artists to come in and perform a couple of songs live and air it to the audience. Library/production is when the audience has free music to listen to and it also has music library which includes albums, songs and jingles. Style and Arrangement it includes genre and a radio clock is set which means it has an order in which the show is set in. This is the same process for most radio stations. Type is just like a theme or a genre, for example Indie, RnB, Rock, Alternative, Pop and many more

Financial Considerations Music royalty payments this is when the radio station will have to pay money to the singer/songwriter and the right holders for there song to be broadcasted onto the radio. For example if Sam Smith produced a song Capital would go to his record label and pay for his song to be played on the radio to get listeners to listen to there show. Voiceover artist fees is paid to voiceover artists to cover the ongoing use of their recording and is payed by the radio company. Trafficking costs are used for when people pay the radio station to have airtime on the radio so there advertisement can be broadcasted to the listeners. The traffic will generate a daily log of programming such as advertisements. The log will be used to calculate how much airtime has been made for that commercial and will then be judged then on the costs. Negotiated production budget
