Kindergarten Readiness Assessment (KRA) The KRA Data: Benefits Children- identifies the strengths and challenges of individual children and informs instruction. Assists Teachers- gives teachers rich information about each assessed child’s skills, abilities, and learning needs. It enables teachers to differentiate instruction, provide supports, and address identified learning gaps at the individual child and classroom level. Informs Families- families can learn about their child’s strengths and needs in the new Kindergarten Readiness Individual Student Report (ISR).

Field Trips Space is limited but we appreciate your willingness to chaperone! If a parent/guardian would like to chaperone, they must check the chaperone box on their child’s permission form, provide contact information, and return the form to the child’s teacher. Permission forms may be turned in before payment.

Field Trips Chaperones will be selected based on the order in which the forms are received. Parents/guardians who have not attended a previous field trip will take priority. Parents/guardians who are not selected will be placed on a waiting list. If you volunteer to chaperone, you will be notified whether you are selected or not.

Language Arts Math Common Core State Standards Daily writing Balanced program emphasizes letter/sound relationship & high frequency word recognition Work to develop deep comprehension of varied texts (poetry, nonfiction, short articles, fables and more) Math Curriculum emphasizes the development of number relations, computation, and problem solving through use of hands on materials

Daily Five Children become better readers and develop a love for reading by having time to actually read and write. A way of organizing language arts instruction so that every student is engaged in meaningful literacy tasks. Students receive explicit whole group instruction and then are given independent practice time to read and write independently while the teacher provides focused instruction to individuals and small groups.

Dreambox Dreambox is a computer based math learning program. All students have access at school and home. Consistent use of Dreambox totaling 1 hour or more per week yields best result. Dreambox time is time spent completing math tasks. Reward time such as arcade and my home do not count as math tasks.

Raz-Kids On line reading program Includes comprehension questions Reads the book and questions to them at early reading levels Children progress along levels

Homework We will start homework in October. Math homework: Use Dreambox twice a week or more Language Arts homework: Use Raz-Kids twice a week or more Read aloud to your child! Discussing the book increases vocabulary and background knowledge
