Alcohol Alcohol is not digested like food in the stomach. Upon reaching the stomach about 20% goes directly through the walls of the stomach directly into the blood stream. The rest goes to the small intestine and then goes directly through the walls of the small intestine into the blood stream.

Alcohol Alcohol reaches the brain within minutes and begins to affect it by slowing down the neurons and the messages they send each other.

Alcohol Reflex reactions are slowed. Coordination is reduced. Alcohol cannot leave the body until the cells of the liver break it down into carbon dioxide and water.

Alcohol It takes 1 to 3 hours or longer for the liver to break down (ONE) drink. Meanwhile the rest of the alcohol circulates in the body. The liver breaks down one chemical at a time. Short – term effects pp. 30 – 31.

Alcohol Hangover – rebound effects from alcohol intoxication, including headache, dizziness, nausea, thirst, fatigue, and nervousness. Mac,Phila.
