MANOR ADVENTURE LOCKERBIE 2017

PURPOSE: Adventurous activities – part of the children’s entitlement in the National Curriculum. Learn new skills – to experience new activities/create memories Personal development – Develop inner confidence and self-esteem Independence skills – organisation, thinking for themselves

WHY GO TO SCOTLAND? Manor facilities in Lockerbie are EXCELLENT. Better in Winter than summer: No problem with heat or midges. Cost is less so you get more for your money. The centre in Shropshire was much harder to get to – windy roads. Same time to get there.

“BRILLIANT!” WHAT IS THE FOOD LIKE? Superb choice Canteen-style Children will be using a lot more energy than they would normally do, so it is very important that each child receives three substantial meals per day. We provide our Catering Manager with a very generous budget to ensure that the quality and quantity of the food is fresh, tasty, nutritious and plentiful. Big portions!!! Superb choice “BRILLIANT!” Canteen-style

Bring a sleeping bag and pillow case. WHERE ARE THEY SLEEPING? Good quality small dormitories with teachers next door! Don’t worry I’ve done this many times before – they WILL sleep!!! (Bedtime is 9.30-10pm) And there are 4 teachers!!! Mrs Davies Mrs Palmer Mrs Dillon Miss Bougen Bring a sleeping bag and pillow case.

WHICH ACTIVITIES ARE WE DOING? Visit to Eskrigg Nature Reserve for a Nature Walk and to view Red Squirrels. Activities at Manor: Zip Wire – climb up rope ladder, 70m descent Fencing – learn skills such as stance, lunge, parry and repost. Orienteering – taught to map read to locate clues Mountain biking – on site track covering various terrains Climbing – purpose built climbing tower Obstacle Course – personal and team challenges Canoes – in pairs on the lake Abseiling – developing inner confidence
